As I’m learning how to work WordPress themes, I’ve gone through some design trial & error. Not to say this is bad or anything, but it took me awhile to figure out how to make stuff. I have two themes I created for Subreal that are already chopped up and workable, but I need to clean them up a bit and make them a bit more generic so they can dropped into anyone’s WordPress (ie make it so the header text reads, clean up navigation, etc etc).
One is clean, one is messy. On my third try I realized that these were both a little too much in the layout department for just my personal blog, and would be better geared towards someone with more content to share than I do, hence this very simplistic theme I’m running now. I’d guess with my current schedule, which is a bit relaxed, I can probably release these within two weeks. Really they have about six hours of work each, but I’m sort of taking it easy and working on a variety of projects at the moment to brush up my skills before diving into the new venture in August. These were a great test to brush up on CSS, and find out all the naunces of WordPress, I feel like I have a much greater handle on it. I wouldn’t call myself a web developer, but I know my way around on the art side. It’s been over four years since I really tackled any real graphic design, been working on games pretty much full time.
My hat off to you. I have been playing with WordPress for a little over 2 years on and off now and I must say – it's got to be demanding developing themes! It's not bad enough that you have to contend with crap like IE7 but then they also revolutionise WP every couple versions
I'll be keeping an eye on your works mate! Keep well!
